Berlin insists on the resumption of railway communication between Donbass and the Russian Federation
The fact that Crimea has returned to the international railway network is very significant. The next step should be the resumption of rail links between Russia and the People’s Republics of Donbass.
This statement was made in the commentary of the German edition of News Front by the deputy of the House of Representatives of Berlin from the Alternative for Germany party Gunnar Lindemann.
“It is good that Crimea finally returned to the international railway network after almost 6 years of blockade,” said the parliamentarian. “It gives a lot of passengers, especially during the holiday season, a cheap and convenient way to travel.”
At the same time, he noted that railways are becoming increasingly important in Europe as an environmentally friendly means of transportation.
“Now Lugansk and Donetsk should be connected to the international railway network by reopening direct communication between the LPR and the DPR and Rostov-on-Don. This will greatly facilitate the life of the inhabitants of Donbass. I will promote and support this project,” Lindemann emphasized.
As News Front reported, earlier on the Crimean bridge the first train passed, which followed from St. Petersburg to Sevastopol. Now, 11 pairs of passenger trains will run through the Kerch Strait. At the same time, a double-decker train with a capacity of 882 people will be launched between Moscow and Simferopol.
